Donate To The Legends Trust Fund

All donations, large and small, to The Legends Trust Fund, are greatly appreciated. You may make your donations anonymously if you prefer. You may also use your donation to nominate a teacher for our Legendary Black Educators recognition.

To nominate an individual, you need to contribute at least $250.00 to the fund. This entitles you to make one nomination. Anyone contributing $500.00 or more may make two nominations. Those who contribute $5,000 or more, may make three nominations, which is the greatest number of nominations that any one person can make.

The Legends Trust Fund partners with the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi (a 501(c)(3) organization with a four-star rating on Charity Navigator).  The Foundation has worked with such reputable charities as the B. B. King Museum, Teach for America, and the Box Project. The Foundation will invest our dollars and do the bookkeeping for us, freeing us up to find ways to grow the fund.

Make your check payable to the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi and mail it to 315 Losher St., Suite 100; Hernando, MS 38632.  Indicate LTF on the memo line.   Please enclose your nomination form(s) with your check.   Use a different form for each of your nominees. $250 entitles you to one nomination; $500 to two nominations; $5,000 or more to three nominations, which is the most nominations that any one person may make.

You may also mail your gift of less than $250.00 to:

I graduated from Broad Street in 1963.  As the public school for students who lived within the city, Greenwood High would have been my school. I feel a special kinship, therefore,  with the school and its graduates since it was integrated in 1970.  Several schoolmates, friends, and I have established a scholarship endowment that honors legendary African-American educators of the 1950s, 1960s, and earlier. We call this project The Legends Trust Fund.

The Legends Trust Fund awarded our first scholarships this year to three excellent students who will be attending Alcorn State, Jackson State, and Tennessee State to study for careers in healthcare.  All three are committed to returning to the Greenwood community with their degrees, welcome news to a community that is struggling to keep open the one hospital in Leflore County.

While returning to the area is not a condition of being awarded a scholarship, we applaud these individuals who want to bring their talents home.

The Legends Trust Fund is committed to the uplift of the Greenwood community through education. We ask that you give serious consideration to contributing to this worthy cause and that you ask others to do so as well.

Your gift, no matter the size, is appreciated and will be recognized. It will help grow the Endowment, providing funds from the earnings for scholarships each year.  The principal amount is never depleted, which makes an endowment the gift that gives forever.

To build the Endowment, the Board of the Legends Trust Fund will match the first $25,000 received during 2023, doubling the impact of your gift. To find out more, visit our website at legendstrustfund.org. Thanks for your consideration.
